Kirby and his long distance journey from W. Kansas to N.D.
CCK knew when Kirby came in to it's rescue he wouldn't be in rescue for long. Picked up as a stray in W. Kansas, it's still a mystery as to why anyone would have let this handsome boy out of their sight.
Kirby came to the shelter with blue paint over his coat; perhaps part of a 4th of July celebration - who knows.
While he was neutered (has been since) Kirby seemed to be very familiar with being inside. He also did well with his foster siblings.
Camille knew her corgi, Dalla (on the left) needed a buddy and she fell in love with Kirby. It didn't matter she lived 3 states to the north; she WANTED Kirby.
So a 9-hour drive was made to Kansas where Camille quickly confirmed she had made the right choice for a new addition to her family.
Kirby has adjusted well to his new home and sister.
Kirby was brought up to date on vaccinations, neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm test and put on preventative in addition to flea and tick preventative before he went to his new home. He was also given several baths to try and remove the blue paint but it simply had to wear off.
Thanks Camille for opening your heart and home to this once homeless boy. A big hug for literally going out of your way to get him too!
