Summer

ADOPTED!!!!

UPDATE 2-5-15: Summer continues to make small improvements. She is still skittish but you can tell she wants to trust. She still has some anxiety about coming back in the house after going outside; something that is not too unusual for dogs from her situation. She is doing pretty good on house-training but still has an occasional accident and it's usually when she has free-reign of the house. We feel she is ready to go to her furr-ever home if we can find the right family. She will need lots of patience; another dog would probably be beneficial and we would prefer a home where someone is home more often as she needs more constant companionship that most dogs.

Summer is an 8-year retired breeder. Her owner was through with her and wanted to get rid of her, but not for free of course! We can only guess that Summer has spent her whole life in the confines of a dog run with cement floors and very little housing. She was actually "thrown in on the deal" when Corgi Connection of Kansas agreed to take in another female corgi that could not longer produce, Sadie.

Summer has been spayed, vaccinated, treated for worms, heart-worm tested (negative), micro-chipped and groomed. She is slowing learning to be a pet rather than livestock, but it will be a little while yet before we feel she is ready to make the move in to a furr-ever home.

This sweet little girl is doing quite well in foster care, but she is still timid and fearful on new noises, changes and new people. Her adoption fee is $275. She will need a patient family and CCK would prefer she is adopted to a family where someone is home more often than not.
