2nd Annual Cruisin' for Canines Poker Run - June 11, 2011
A very sincere THANK YOU goes to everyone who helped in any way shape or form with this fund-raiser. It was a great day and the event went off without a hitch. More than $500 was in the 50-50 pot and the winner of half which was $255 gave $100 of that back to Corgi Connection! Overall, about $2,000.00 was raised for Corgi Connection. This will help immensley with veterinary bills, insurance and hopefully to get 501(c)3 status making next year's contributions tax deductible! Now to start planning for next year! Second Saturday of June - Put it on your calendar now! Special thanks to Deb Auld for the pictures! If you can't make the ride you can still participate. Absentee hands will be sold and volunteers will draw cards for you! Top prize for the best absentee hand is a $75 Visa gift card to use ANYWHERE. There will also be a 50/50 Money Raffle. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The money will be split between the winner and Corgi Connection. Also a way to participate in you can't make the ride! Poker hands are $10 for the first and $5 for each additional hand. Prizes for those who ride or drive are a $200 gift card to City Cycle Sales - Harley Davidson; $200 Conoco gas card from Handy's. First place winner will have a choice of either gift card. The third place prize is a $150 gift certificate to Munson's Premium Angus Beef - winners choice of meat. Even the worst hand is eligible for a prize; a gift certificate from Coach's Grill and Bar - $100 value!!! The ride will begin at City Cycle Sales in Junction City with registration starting at noon. Last bike will be out by 1 p.m. The ride ends at Coach's Grill and Bar. Last card drawn at 5 p.m. - No exceptions and prizes awarded! Want to meet other Corgi owners? Let Me Hear from You!
Corgi Connection would like to know if there are other Corgi Crazy People who would like to gather for a corgi picnic in Kansas. There are many states that have Corgi gatherings with great success. Ideally I would like it to be a fund-raiser for CorgiAid which has helped Corgi Connection tremendously with medical expenses on dogs it has rescued. I'm open for suggestions as to what kind of event Corgi people might like to particpate in and would like to hear from corgi owners. I don't anticipate doing anything this fall but would think about spring time! Contact Jeanette DeMars with interest/questions/suggestions: jeanette@corgiconnection.com

Cruisin' for Canines is a success! What a terrific turnout we had for our first fund-raiser. About 40 bikes participated in the event along with an old convertible. The weather didn't look good that morning, but the afternoon turned out great! Prizes were awarded at the end of the ride and Corgi Connection has paid some veterinary bills and will be able to help more dogs! Thanks to everyone who participated and supported the cause! Special thanks for the volunteers who helped: Jim and Keri Parker and daughter Hannah; Edna Kidwell, Rebecca Taylor; Lisa Carson, Ethel Drube, Patty Harrington and Chelsea McNeil. Couldn't have done it without you!
Several Vietnam Veteran riders participated in the run. Thanks!
