Pumpkin

11-23-15 pre-op examADOPTED!

UPDATE: Pumpkin is ready to start the new year in a furr-ever home. She has overcome so much and is blossoming in to a true corgi. She can still be timid of new situations, people, but she is learning to play; loves her 2 daily walks and more if the weather is good, doesn't mind being left for short periods of time in her crate and is doing very well with house-training. We feel Pumpkin would do well in a home with older children, if any, and where there is someone home more often than not.

Her foster is calling her Pumpkin and this is the little girl we got just before Thanksgiving from a Kansas shelter where she was brought in as a stray. We knew she had bladder stones, but this is my first experience - Wholly cow! This little girl's bladder was full! She had to be in so much pain - I can't imagine.
In addition to the bladder stones Pumpkin had a fatty tumor removed from her side; her teeth cleaned and an extraction. She has some skin issues which we are hoping will clear up with the antibiotics she is taking. Her skin and coat have recovered well from the lack of care she endured. The skin issues were most likely from flea allergies, so preventative will be imperative to keep her healthy. Pumpkin will need to be monitored for the rest of her life for the potential of developing bladder stones again and for urinary tract infections. Currently she is only on a prescription dry dog food which seems to be keeping her healthy.
We do not know Pumpkin's age - we can only guess 3-5 years old. She is a petite corgi - about 20 pounds.
She will have to remain on a special diet for the remainder of her life to avoid having to go through such an issue again with the stones. Pumpkin has been very scared over the past several days. It will take some time before we know her personality and what home would suite her best.

She is spayed, current on vaccinations, had her teeth cleaned; is heart worm negative and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $275.
