Coraline and Karma

ADOPTED!!!!

What a pair of cuties!!! These 2 sisters are simply adorable and it's out goal to keep them together. They have been together since birth even sleeping in the same crate. Karma has the white blaze up her head and Coraline is the smaller of the two.

These 2 girls turned 5 in November and were purchased from a breeder. Their previous owner realized they were spending too much time in their crate as he tried to get back on track after a divorce. He made the right decision for the girls and contacted CCK who will certainly find them a home where they can run free and get lots of play time. They love to play ball!

They are in a foster home and doing nicely with a golden retriever foster sibling.

Here is a terrfic and detailed report from "the girls'" foster mom after having them only a few days:

Housetraining - one accident, our fault for not getting them outside after play quickly enough.  No other issues and they have learned to start heading for the door if we say "outside".  They do their business quickly.

Crate - they crate easily for bed time and when we leave the house.

Fence jumping, climbing, digging - Due to all of the snow that has fallen since we got home we haven't seen any problems

Walking on leash - again, snow has prevented us from going on a walk, but they follow us around the back yard and have wonderful recall

Travel in car - GREAT!  not a peep out of them during our drive home on Saturday.

Barking triggers - new noises, bark when they want to play, other than that, they really aren't that barky

Appetite/Food Quantity - they are each getting 1/2 c twice a day.  Both will eat out of their own bowls, Karma doesn't try to hog the food at all.

Begging/Treat Manners - they are easily shooed out of the kitchen and dining area with a quiet "out" command and herding hand motion.  They picked this up the first night and rest quietly watching on a blanket nearby.  Not snappy with treats, very gentle.

Inappropriate chewing - None, but we are playing fetch with them four times a day to wear them out.

Fears - none so far, but they are still skittish if there is a loud or new noise.

Possessive of Toys/Food Bowl - no problems sharing five million tennis balls with each other or our dog, but we haven't pulled out her soft toys yet from the closet

Sleeping through the night - Hallelujah, yes!  They are awesome, sleep through someone getting up in the middle of the night.  They seem to take wake up cues from our resident dog, who also sleeps in our bedroom

Interaction with cats - they barked and went after our outdoor cat but backed off as soon as he hissed.

Interaction with dogs - fine with our resident senior golden, but have only touched noses; no play or sleeping together; will share petting time

interaction with humans - GREAT!  they seem cautious at first but then come right in for hugs and petting.  Greeted properly at the front door.

Overall energy level - I'm going with medium; if they get play time then they crash and nap.  I think they might get into trouble if ignored for too long

Aggression or biting - no aggression, but hands can get in the way during play time.  We are working on making sure they "wait" for us to pick up the ball before we throw it again.

Needed areas of improvement - need to practice walking on leash, weather will be warmer by the weekend.  We would like to have them meet children to see how they react.
We know the girls have been around children because the previous owner had 2 girls.

General comments - these are wonderful dogs!  Can't believe how easily they've fit into our home and they are so loving, smart, and gentle.  We are watching for them to settle a bit and see if any naughty habits come out once they are even more relaxed. These girls need to stay together; they will act independently of each other but are usually close in proximity.  We think the calm energy of our resident dog has helped them to have good sleeping and every day house habits (less barking?).

Since we want these two cuties to stay together, their adoption fee will be $500 for both. They are spayed; have been brought up to date on vaccinations; will have their teeth checked and cleaned; are on heart-worm prevent and both micro-chipped.
