Ramzee

We are so proud to announced Ramzee was adopted Aug. 8. We feel very confident we have found him a wonderful home with another corgi and even more dogs!

Say hi to Ramzee! He is Aaa-DOOR-able!!!! Unfortunately he hasn't had a very pleasant life in his approximately 3 short years. It seems Ramzee was given away by a breeder to a young woman who had wanted a corgi so badly. Unfortunately Ramzee wasn't socialized and doesn't have those fun corgi traits that she so badly wanted. So rather than return Ramzee to the breeder and a life of living in a crate, the woman listed him on a website page and Corgi Connection of Kansas was contacted about him. We immediately contacted the woman who seemed genuinely relieved we would take in Ramzee.

Ramzee is terribly scared; appears to have not lived inside; he spent his entire time behind the couch when the woman took him home. He was full of a host of parasites, but fortunately did test negative for heartworms. He has not been neutered and because his testicles never descended he will need a little more extensive surgery in order to be neutered.

We have gotten rid of the worms; he's been vaccinated; is beginning to explore his foster home just a wee little bit and we think his future looks bright. We will get him neutered by mid-January and give him a few more weeks before looking to place him in a furr-ever home. He will need someone who has some dog experience, lots of patience and is willing to give him the time he needs to foget his past and enjoy being what a corgi should be - a member of a family.

UPDATE 7-8-15: Unfortunately Ramzee didn't work out in the home we adopted him to and he was returned to Corgi
Connection. He has progressed a long ways from when we first got him, but he still has a long ways to go. He is still quite scared but is catching on to the routine in his foster home. He prefers to hide in his crate and that will slowly be made less accessible to him except for purposes of house-training. Ramzee is not realiably house-trained but is improving. He enjoys walks, pulling at first and then settling down to a nice pace. He loves to play with other dogs and bark and visitors. Ramzee is going to require a VERY patient owner and one who is able to deal with some set-back now and then as this sweet boy learns to enjoy his new world.

Ramzee's adoption fee is $275. He is also micro-chipped and has been put on heart-worm preventative as well as flea/tick prevent.
