Willy

ADOPTED!!!!!

Nov. 20: Willy had his testing done today, however we won't know results for 5-6 days. I would guess probably not until after Thanksgiving.

They don't come much better than this sweet boy. Willy was listed for sale by his owner who purchased him as a pup to use for breeding.

Turns out Willy is a cryptorchid and couldn't be reliable for the purposes of breeding. Cryptorchidism is when 1 or both of the dog's testicles don't descend in to their "normal" place. It is even more reason to have a dog neutered as the chances of cancer increase significantly for those dogs with this condition. (Sorry for the biology lesson, but felt it needed to be explained!)

Willy's surgery was a bit more involved than anticipated. The veterinarian was unable to located the second testicle. So we are uncertain if he still has a testicle or was only born with 1. He will be tested Nov. 20 should help us make the determination. We are hoping he doesn't need further surgery because if he still has an undescended testicle it has to be removed because leaving it would further increase his chances of developing cancer.

Willy's owner was not aware about the world of rescue and seemed impressed with the small bit of information I gave him about CCK's work. His genuine concern for Willy's well-being led him to let CCK find Willy the perfect home.

Willy is current on vaccinations and has been given monthly doses of heart-worm prevent which are all pluses. He is doing great in his foster home with 2 other corgis. Seems to have caught on to house-training and loves to play ball!

Willy's adoption fee is $275. We will know more after Nov. 20 when he will be ready for adoption.
