Handsome Tucker -

Out of a Mess

Tucker and about 13 other dogs were seized from a hoarding type home. Information is sketchy at best but the important thing is this boy is now safe.

There was also another corgi in the bunch. One we've named Brandi. She will be posted soon.

We believe Tucker is 2-3 years old. He is initially shy but so wants to trust. You can tell. He is doing fine with corgi foster siblings and self-adopted cat.

Tucker doesn't have many manners however. He is learning to go in and out when necessary; walk on a leash and perhpas snore a little less loudly at night!

Tucker is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, micro-chipped and seems all around healthy. He is a pretty good-sized boy; weighing right at 30 pounds.

We will take some time to get to know Tucker more and get him house-trained before letting him go for adoption.

His adoption fee is $275. We would like to have Tucker adopted by someone who has corgi experience, is home more than "regular" working folks and perhaps another corgi. He will also need a home who has lots of patience and is willing to work with him as he becomes accustomed to being a pet.

You're Gonna Love Casey!!

Adopted!

Casey was purchased from a breeder in Missouri and was a very loved member of the family until she became a little too rambunctious for the toddler and a young infant that just arrived.

So Casey's family made the heart-wrenching decision to give her up and Corgi Connection was able to take her in to rescue to find just the right home for her.

Casey is house-trained; knows some basic obedience and does well with other dogs. She will not allow others to push her around however. She is also fine with a cat.

This little girl is an absolute doll and very much wants to be around people. She will sit in your lap endlessly if given the opportunity. She can be quite vocal and is always on alert.

She just turned 5 in October and she is a ball of fire. Casey does have some allergy issues which are being treated and include giving her a medicated bath once a week. She is improving, but whoever adopts her will need to be vigilant about keeping her FLEA-FREE, bathed regularly (not necessarily weekly) and monitored closely for any signs of allergy.

Casey is spayed, current on vaccinations, has been heart-worm tested and is on preventative.

She is available for adoption now. Applicants with young children (under 10) can not be considered for Casey. Her adoption fee is $275 which goes towards the cost of her medical care.

Angelo: Family Lost Home -

Both Ended up at Shelters

But Not Together -ADOPTION

PENDING!

Angelo was brought to an animal shelter by no fault of his own. His owners ended up homeless and the shelter they were staying at would not allow pets so Angelo had to go to the animal shelter.

Angelo was a well-cared for pet. Right up until September his family had gotten veterinary care for him. He will be 3 on Dec. 12.

He is doing well in his foster home with 2 other corgis and an Aussie. Here's a quick run-down on Angelo from his foster mom:

-Angelo is a typical corgi in that he likes to herd people, other dogs, anything he thinks he can.

-he's doing pretty good and is playing and chasing with Mindy so hopefully he will lose some pounds.

- his manners are still pretty awful but he is learning and he's a smartie - he just doesn't want to do any of those things, he's pretty darn stubborn

- he is a little mouthy when he gets REALLY excited but not as bad anymore

- haven't tried toys really yet but he did get pretty possessive of a chewy the other day

- he really isn't a barker but he does sometimes, which is nice that it's not all the time

- he does awesome in a kennel and he is doing better with the constant movement - he's spending some more time calmly laying down or being petted or whatever, not going from thing to thing all the time

- he is very sweet and loves to be around you all the time

Angelo would be best placed in a home with older kids (teenage) or no children at all as he has strong herding instincts which can sometimes be misinterpreted as aggression. He is neutered, current on vaccinations, will be micro-chipped, has been heart-worm tested and is on preventative. He is available for adoption now and his adoption fee is $275.

Move Over for Marley of

Missouri - ADOPTED!!!!

Yet another corgi that was part of a backyard breeding project; Marley was given away by her owner because she had become "dominant" over the other dogs. Well come to find out, Marley was being allowed to do as she wanted and run loose outside!

Marley is in Columbia, MO.

Corgi Connection quickly snapped up Marley to keep her from further breeding, especially since one of the male corgis on the property was her son.

She is proving to be a pretty typical female corgi, a bit bossy, sometime stubborn and usually wanting to be in charge. She has displayed a little protection over whoever "her person" is but that is being worked on.

Marley needs someone who can deal with a little bit of a strong-willed dog. She would probably do best in a home without young children since she does like to be in charge. She is doing fine with her 2 foster dogs, but again, can get jealous when it comes to sharing people.

Marley has been brought up to date on vaccinations, she's been spayed, micro-chipped, heartworm tested (neg) and tested for any parasites.

She is available for immediate adoption through the application process. Her adoption fee is $275 to pay for her veterinary care.

Ein the Fluffy Needs a Family - ADOPTED!

Ein's family moved half-way across country. Their uncertain housing situation and a young son who had developed allergies to the beautiful dog forced them to make the heart-wrenching decision to find Ein a new home.

And ready for a new home she is! Ein is house-trained; loves to go for walks, does well with the resident dog in foster care and is co-habitating with the resident cat just fine. Not that there isn't some curiosity there.

Ein comes from a family where someone was home almost all the time. So she is used to attention and companionship.

The following is from Ein's first family:

Hello! Thank you so much for being willing to give me updates on Ein. This is a hard situation for us but knowing she will be well taken care of is making it a little easier.
I have been running an in-home daycare for the past 8 years and Ein has been with the kids and I all day. We do leave her on the weekends and she is good for about 6 hours. She is a very curious dog so I would crate her when you leave for awhile. Until our son was born 1.5yrs ago she slept in bed with us. Now she sleeps, by her choice, on the couch.
Her knee is pretty good now. The only thing she cannot do is run distance while on a leash. I used to run a mile with her everyday so that's the only big no at this point. She is really good at only doing what she is able to. That being said when she gets really excited you will have to enforce her limits because she will not.
As for treats, I use anything that has chicken, lamb, or pork as the main ingredient. Her favorite treat is a kong with peanut butter stuck in the freezer for an hour and then stuffed with an apple slice. I will send her with a new package of pork bones so you can see which ones they are. I have found a decent selection of treats at pets smart.

Ein has a sensitivity to beef products, so her main food is nutro lamb meal and rice. We are also very careful about what is in the treats we give her. She eats 2 meals a day. She eats 3/4 cup to 1 cup per feeding depending on her activity level.  She loves apples, pears, carrots, and peanut butter. She will overeat given the chance, but we are very careful how much to give her so that her weight stays where it should be and is easier on her joints. if she overeats she will throw up. I always make sure her evening meal is just a little smaller than her morning one and this seems to help. She loves playing in the snow. She does not like to be out in the rain, you will have to force her to go out and tell her to "go potty." She loves taking a bath and that is the only place that she likes getting wet. She loves kids! She has had obedience classes. She does very well at everything other than stay. we have had a hard time with that one. She does know how to walk on a leash and loves taking walks. She had knee surgery 2 years ago after she jumped off of our deck, so she is not able to run while on a walk. I normally walk her about 1 mile per day. If walking her with a stroller she will want to be in front of it.

Here's a report from Ein's foster mom:

What a fuzzy lovable little gal! Ein is house-trained and does very well with other dogs and people - she's even met a horse and cow. Many big transitions have been given to Ein and she has been a cooperative, perky participant. She is excitable (always in motion) but she does settle in and likes to snuggle as well. Playing with her dog treat dispenser and Kong creates quite a bit of fun and noise around here. She can be a bit "grabby" or snippy when playing with a toy. Taking a walk is a favorite past-time. Ein is quite interested in the cat at our house - but doesn't seem interested in harming him...just making sure he is monitored at all times. She doesn't mind some time spent outside in the backyard be with you monitoring all possible food "accidents" in the kitchen as well as getting good scritches.

Ein has been given the best care by her previous family. CCK has all her vet records from the time she was a puppy. Ein is current on vaccinations, she is spayed; on heartworm preventative and available for immediate adoption. Her adoption fee is $250.

Addie - Out of the Back Yard and

Looking for a Home - ADOPTED!

The intentions were good like so many times when someone gets a puppy but not knowing enough about the breed has left Addie seeking a new home.

Addie was taken in by a family who's neighbors had puppies. Unfortunately the family didn't know enough about corgis when the got Addie and because of the amount of hair they shed and their personality, Addie was moved to the backyard. Because she barked at night, the family did bring her inside and crated her.

Despite her lack of attention Addie has proved to be a wonderful INSIDE dog with her foster home.

Here is some information about Addie from her foster mom:

Addie is such a sweet natured dog. She is a little prissy and likes to be babied. She definately likes attention and plays well with everyone she's met. She has no food issues. She was eating Beneful when we picked her up, so that's what we've kept using. She has finally figured out what to do with toys and especially likes toys that squeek. (They don't last long.) But her favorite playmate by far is her people.

She loves to cuddle in the evenings on laps. She sleeps in the kennel at night because that's our habit. She has learned from Snoopy that the kennel is a place of comfort. When she first came, I had to chase her down and corner her then physically put her in the kennel. Now she goes on her own and has begun to nap in it during the day even though we don't require it. We have left her with free reign of the house while running errands and have not had a problem. She hasn't had any accidents, doesn't chew on anything, and seems pretty unflappable about most things. We have also not had an issue with barking. She doesn't bark near as much as Winston did, not even when Snoopy barks.

I think she will make someone a loving companion. She is not high energy and rides in the car like a dream. We took her to Haysville for Christmas and she layed down and slept for the entire ride both ways. I think she could definately be trained as a therapy dog. Everyone she meets falls in love with her.

Addie has been brought up to date on vaccinations; heartworm tested (neg) and put on preventative; she is spayed and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $275 and she is available for immediate adoption.

Debbie...Safe from Backyard Breeding - Adopted!

Little Debbie Snack Cake as this young girl was named has been used for "non-professional" breeding until the owners lost their jobs and could no longer keep her; that and the male they were breeding was killed by a neighbor's dog.

Debbie is located in Ponca City, OK.

We are glad to have "Debbie" out of the situation and in a loving foster home where she is all ready learning to play, trust and be a Corgi! She has a buddy in foster care - Cooper, who is teaching her to run, chase and be silly.
It took two baths to get Debbie clean and the owner said she had been an inside dog! She had a few accidents in the house but is now doing just fine.
Debbie continues to be a little shy but she is thriving.  She needs a patient person as she learns to become a pet rather than a source of income. Debbie has been spayed, vaccinated (the "breeder" couldn't find her veterinary records); heart-worm test and micro-chipped. She has also been treated for a light case of worms. She is available for adoption now. Debbie is located in Oklahoma. Her adoption fee will be $275.
